To quickly create an annual budget, go to the "Estimated Budget" tab.
Select "Auto-Update Guideline Percentages," and then enter your monthly
salary into the "Salary" item under "Gross Monthly Income." Press the
"Use Guidelines" button, and your budget should then be filled out
according to the guideline percentages.
To create recurring transactions, set up the item in "Transaction
Options" as normal and then right-click the "Add" button.
After invoking the calculator or amount converter from an entry frame,
you can do calculations and then insert the results back into the entry
frame by selecting "Insert" from the calculator or amount converter
windows.
Use the scroll-wheel on your mouse in any list, text window, or
spreadsheet to scroll the view up or down.
Many buttons will display a help small window if you leave the
mouse pointer over the button for several seconds.
The "Reset" menu can be used to purge entries made on any tab.
Note that changes will not be saved after a reset unless you explicitly
save them from the "File" menu, pressing <F2>, or by opting to do so
upon exiting the program.
Use the special "Credit / Refund" transaction type to credit money
towards expense categories.
Spreadsheet columns can be resized by pressing and holding the
right mouse button while the mouse pointer is directly over a column
separator line. Simply drag the column line to the left or right
until the desired width is achieved.
To separate a tab from a notebook, left-click on the dotted line
under the name. This will allow you to view multiple tabs simultaneously.
To return the tab to the notebook, click on the "X" at the top-right
corner of the tab window.
Double-click any row containing data in the "Transaction" tab spreadsheet,
and the contents will be put into the "Transactions Options" entries above
the spreadsheet. While normally used to edit an entry, this can also be
used to make quick copies the selected entry (by pressing the "Add"
button).
Use the "Cleared" option under the "Balance" menu to only sum the
transaction items that have been checked as "cleared."
Select "Expanded Splits" under the "View" menu to display all transaction
items, including split transaction constituents, for the selected "View"
filter. Note that you can only edit split constituents via the "Split Editor,"
which is invoked by double-clicking a "<Split>" transaction or item on the
"Transaction" spreadsheet.
Get a quick graphical representation of your budget by selecting
"Make Graph" in the "Summary" tab.
